We are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with Dutch textile designer BYBORRE. Together we have created a unique fabric inspired by the Stoov infrared technology and our beloved Chilly Billy. Each piece is one of a kind and ensures the cosy warmth you would expect from Stoov. Read more about BYBORRE, our collaboration and the innovative knitting technique of this new collection!
Borre Akkersdijk is a Dutch fabric designer who launched the BYBORRE brand in 2015. With cutting-edge technology being the heart of his business, he founded his own small factory in Amsterdam. What makes his 8-bit fabric so unique is that although it is incredibly fluffy, it is also robust and durable.
BYBORRE produces the 8-bit design fabrics on a circular knitting machine developed by BYBORRE himself, which runs on an also in-house developed software. "8-bit" refers to the eight yarn feeders on the knitting machine. Each yarn feeder knits a single pixel, or bit, into the fabric. The result is a unique fabric with a very special optical effect that can only be created with this kind of circular knitting machine. Thanks to this innovative knitting technique, the BYBORRE fabric is super soft to the touch, yet pleasantly heavy.
The Stoov Design edition Textiles by BYBORRE fabric is a Jacquard with 3D effect made on an innovative circular knitting machine in the BYBORRE lab in Amsterdam. Thanks to this knitting technique the fabric is plush and lofty and has extraordinary bright colors. The handfeel of the Stoov BYBORRE fabric is extremely soft, while being thick and weighty and extremely stable thanks to its knit structure.
In cooperation with the textile designer BYBORRE, we have developed a new knitted design made from the distinctive Valby fabric in two different colourways: Fragment Beige & Fragment Blue. Each cover is a small part of a larger piece, and therefore one of a kind. The pattern designed by Stoov consists of two layers: the first layer is a heatmap pattern (inspired by our infrared technology) and on the second layer we have placed our beloved Chilly Billy in sketch-like lines. The fabric, including the covers, is sewn together in the Netherlands using a special stitching technique.
